The Rothwell CTLE provides a thorough and comprehensive faculty development program for all ERAU-Worldwide faculty. This occurs in multiple ways:
All new ERAU-W faculty must complete an initial faculty development (FACD) course experience prior to teaching their first course for ERAU-W. FACD courses are specialized for adjunct faculty, full-time faculty, and those faculty teaching at ERAU-W Asia campuses.
Refresher/Recurrent FACD Experiences
Any adjunct faculty member identified as needing improvement in one or more areas of the faculty evaluation is enrolled in a college-specific FACD Refresher experience developed by Rothwell CTLE and tailored to each section within the faculty evaluation.
Rothwell CTLE provides frequent live webinars to all ERAU-W faculty on a variety of topics related to teaching and technology. All live sessions include time for Q&A, and recordings of sessions are shared for all faculty unable to attend the session.
Individual consultations are always available by request from faculty or by referral from Faculty Quality Managers or College Leadership. Consultations center around research in best practices from varying learning theories. Current ERAU-W faculty can Contact Us at any time to request an individual consultation.
CTLE provides faculty outreach in several ways:
- All new faculty are contacted by Rothwell CTLE prior to and during their first term teaching at ERAU-W.
- All ERAU-W faculty receive a monthly Rothwell CTLE newsletter that includes teaching tips, live offerings information, and other ways to engage.
- Rothwell CTLE sends an annual survey to all faculty to assess the quality of support provided as well as the most relevant topics to focus on in the coming year.
- Rothwell CTLE maintains a CTLE Resource Site in Canvas that serves as a virtual center for all ERAU-W faculty.
Virtual Faculty Learning Communities (V-FLCs)
Each spring and fall, Rothwell CTLE coordinates an asynchronous collaborative experience for ERAU-W faculty to share ideas and teaching practices around a specific teaching topic.
Beginning in the 2018-2019 AY, the Rothwell CTLE will offer self-paced workshops available to all ERAU-W faculty. These workshops can each be completed within 2-4 hours and focus on specific topics within teaching and technology.
Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Support
The Rothwell CTLE is available to support all faculty in designing and implementing SoTL projects.
Specialized Support Upon Request
The Rothwell CTLE frequently partners with other ERAU-W academic and administrative departments to prepare specialized offerings as needed.
